The Canadian segment of the Formula 1 World Championship, a race held in Montréal since 1978, is a must-attend international event that is synonymous with festivities and the start of Montréal's summer season.
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, the track on which the motor race is run, is located on Île Notre-Dame at Parc Jean-Drapeau, right in the heart of the majestic Saint Lawrence River.
Formula 1 drivers cover the 4,361 metres of the circuit in under one minute and 15 seconds, with speeds that can reach more than 300 kilometres an hour in the straightaways.
